Contracts Specialist

Concannon Business Consulting (CBC) is looking for an experienced Contracts Specialist to provide client support as part of our organization’s efforts to grow our Contracts Management service offering. The first client project is yet to be determined but will either be remote or on-site (remote for the remainder of the COVID-19 shutdown).

About the Position
The Contracts Specialist will support various contract and vendor management responsibilities, including managing new/existing agreements between our client and various third parties, negotiating terms and conditions, coordinating contract approval, and analyzing contractual language. Agreements include but are not limited to the following: Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, Software License and Service Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements. Below are the responsibilities:
  • Represent the client’s perspective in engagements with third parties
  • Provide recommendations for contractual language (e.g. Service Level Agreements) and/or approach to contractual relationship
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and other internal teams (Finance, Procurement, Legal)
  • Draft agreements and contract documents (utilizing templates if available)
  • Initiate contract renewal process and engage with impacted business leads
  • Manage legal risks and escalate as appropriate
  • Manage open contract action items and provide real-time status
  • Coordinate and lead meetings, strategy discussions, negotiations, and overall planning initiatives and maintain version control of contract documents
  • Research existing agreements and provide summary of interpretation of language as requested
  • Manage contracts through the contract approval process working with internal teams, such as Procurement and/or Legal as necessary
  • Assist with reporting and other assignments (e.g. cost saving initiatives, risk/benefit analysis, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality of all agreements and business strategies
  • Assist with ad-hoc items as requested
 About You 
This is what you should possess to be successful in this role: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (technical or business degree)
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience negotiating, managing and drafting contract language
  • Experience with meeting facilitation and stakeholder management
  • Strong research, analysis, and strategy skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage complex projects
  • Prior experience engaging with Procurement and Legal (internal attorneys and outside counsel) teams
  • Excellent attention to detail (e.g., can look for mismatch/inconsistency in shared information)
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; comfortable facilitating large meetings, presenting to executives, and engaging with third parties
  • Team player who can build relationships across a broad range of personalities
  • Proactive, motivated individual who can self-manage and execute once given strategic direction
  • Quick learner, who is eager to get up to speed quickly
  • Great problem solving and analytical skills with solution-oriented mindset and win-win attitude
  • Creative with ability to work within practical boundaries
  • Flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment
  • Exceptional Word skills; Working knowledge of Excel, Teams, OneDrive
  • Ability to be located onsite with the client during normal business hours (or ability to work from home during normal business hours for duration of COVID-19 shutdown)
  • Travel may be required 5% of the time (COVID-19 pending)
  • Fluent in English; must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
 Preferred candidates will have the following:
  • Technology experience, specifically Software as a Service Agreements  
  • Experience working in an Agile framework environment
